Sammi's news archives: April 2001

Sammi had not plan to attend to the HK Film Awards due to her work conflicts in filming. But just as the day finish filming, Sammi made it in time to the auditorium for the announcment of the Best Actress Award. The presenters were Anita Mui and Chow Yun Fat for this award. As Chow opened the enevlope, Chow happily announced Sammi was the winner. When Anita took a second look, she corrected that it's really Maggie Cheung. Sammi was laughing the whole time sitting in the audience. Chow commented that it was joke that he had orignally planned with Sammi to enlighten the show.

Sammi just finished filiming for her latest Mandarin single, "The Only One". This video requires Sammi to changed into 4 different looks and and lipsync with strong fans blowing at her. "The director for this video was very serious. He purposely created 4 different backgounds that looked like a mysterious maze. Even though it was tough with the fan blowing, I really had fun filiming for this!"

Comment from Sammi on her next movie, "Chubby Love Story": "They told me my clothes is gonna weigh 20lbs! But Andy's will be about 30lbs. I don't think I will be able to lift my arm up even! I hope they will go easy on my skin with all those makeup, because my face is allergic to certain chemicals."

Sammi just finished her movie with Tony Leung and she will roll right into her next summer flick, "Chubby Love Story" with Andy Lau. Since Sammi will "gain weight" thru makeup and computer generation, Sammi does not need to actaully gain any actual weight. Since it took her so long to loose the old weight before, Sammi would had not consider doing this movie if she had to gain weight. This movie will probably take about a month, and require Sammmi to wear a lot of fat clothing 10hrs a day.

Sammi's upcoming Mandarin album entitled "Complete" is due out in early May. She is currently putting the finishing touches in the recording studio and filming for the new MTV. Turns out that Sammi loves having fried chicken for snacks while recording! She also need to record in a dark studio. "I make too many funny faces when I record, it's too embarrassing with the light!" Wrapping up in a bunch of clothing is another recording habit. Sammi's new Mandarin single is called "The Only One", which is the Mandarin version of the Korean pop song "Karaoke Exclusive"

Something is always going on for Sammi and Tony on the set of "Roommate Buddies". It was a very cool and windy day during filming, and both are still not fully recovered from their flu. In between takes, Tony would bundled up in blankets and Sammi had her own personalized jacket. But underneath, they wore a matching boyfriend/girlfriend white outfit for their dating scene.

Poor Sammi, after one kissing scene with Tony, she got his contagious flu germs. Both were coughing and sniffing during a recent filming. Director was persistent that both needs to work to be on schedule. In between takes, Sammi would rest in her van. Even though some fans would be waiting for her autographs, Sammi was glad to sign for them. The latest scene was filmed at a noodle restaurant where Tony is the noodle chef and Sammi was the customer who lost her wallet.

After her current filming of "Rommate Buddies" with Tony Leung, Sammi will roll right into her next movie with Andy Lau. Since "Needing You" was such a big hit last summer, the director will be pairing up Andy Lau and Sammi again in "Chubby Love Story". The award winning make-up artist, Steve Johnson from US, will transform Andy into a 250lbs guy and Sammi into a 200lbs gal. Just use your imagination for now, or just think of Eddie Murphy in "The Klumps".
